Schwerer Panzerspähwagen (Artilleriewagen)
Model by Mike Kendall
Partisans were a constant threat to German supply convoys through captured areas. Railroads and supply trains were especially vunerable. To combat the Partisans, numerous specialty rail vehicles were used.
The Artilleriewagen combined the standard Panzer Draisine hull with the turret from a Panzer III Ausf. N. This turret mounted the 7.5cm KwK L/24 first used in the early marks of the Panzer IV which exhibited excellent high-explosive characteristics. As partisans were typically very short of armor, the weapon was an ideal choice. Given the size of the Schwere Panzerspähwagen, it is likely the vehicle could carry a number of infantry as well. The vehicle was also equipped with four machine guns mounted in the hull thereby providing a strong deterrant to attack.
