Panther with 12.8cm Pak
Drawing from Panther and Its Variants
This variant of the panther represents another
attempt to place more-powerful anti-tank guns into the field
in a panzerjaeger. The Jagdtiger carried the same 12.8cm gun,
but was not only prohibitively expensive but unwieldy as well.
Any vehicle which would have combined the firepower of the Jagdtiger
with the mobility and sloped armor of the Jagdpanther would
have been formidable indeed.
The drawing shows the installation of a 12.8cm Pak 80 L/55
in a Panzerjaeger Panther. This upgunning was proposed by
Fried-Krupp AG and dates from November 14, 1944
